How We Give

Grantmaking Overview

How We Give

The Hupf Foundation makes grants to established 501(c)(3) public charities working in health, education and community support. Our giving is focused on Colorado.

Who we fund

  • 501(c)(3) public charities in good standing with the IRS and their state

  • Organizations that have been operating for at least one full year, with a board of at least three members who are not all related

  • Programs that serve people based on need and are open to everyone who qualifies

What we do not fund

  • Grants to individuals. We fund scholarships only through colleges and universities, which choose the recipients.

  • Political campaigns, lobbying, or event tickets and sponsorships

  • Small-business development, entrepreneurship, or investment in for-profit businesses

  • Endowments, debt reduction, or donor-advised funds

How to reach us

Our grantmaking is by invitation. If your work fits our priorities, we would be glad to hear from you. Please email a brief introduction (one page or less) to hupffoundation@gmail.com with:

  1. Your organization's legal name and EIN

  2. What you do and whom you serve

  3. The program or need you would like support for

  4. Your annual budget

Please hold off on sending a full proposal until we ask for one.

What happens next

We read every introduction. If there is a good fit, we will reach out and ask for a few documents, such as a Form W-9, a budget and a board list. All grants are approved by our Board of Directors. Because our resources are limited, we are not able to respond to or fund every request.
